Bulrush grows in the wild across the northern hemisphere and has a harvesting season of 5 months. Bulrush is also known as cattails, the common marsh plant.
|
After years of research and development, the trial of different fibers, and end user feedback, Be Green Packaging has chosen unbleached bulrush fiber as its primary plant source because it is:
Attractive
Annually renewable
Wild crafted (ie. it is collected from the wild, not grown as an agricultural crop)
Compostable
Durable
Today, depending on the item, use requirements, and target price we design and manufacture our food containers and industrial products from bulrush pulp and a blend of other annually renewable fibers.
CHINA PRODUCTION - To date, we harvest, pulp, and manufacture our products in two heavily vetted factories in China. With our management team’s background in packaging, social responsibility, and environmental conservation we continually assess and work with our supply chain to improve their experience and our products. We support over 50 small businesses in the harvesting season. Our Code of Conduct and Social Responsibility Agreements are available upon request.
USA PRODUCTION - To support sales and merchandising in the food service environment, and to compliment our bulrush bases, we have introduced clear lid solutions for many of our packaging bases. For these lids, we use clear 100% recyclable RPET # 1 plastic and manufacture them right down the road from our Santa Barbara based office. This clear solution lid/base combination is therefore 50% MADE IN THE USA. We are working to increase our US manufacturing in 2010.
